FIND OUT MORE

Nettelics provide expertise to SES, allowing for large and small communications systems to be built and supported through-out the world providing reliable voice and data services.

Our engineering staff provide expertise on MEO and GEO satellite services. We support SES Gateways to small antenna deployments through-out the world, sometimes in arduous conditions. Using cutting edge technology we can supply and support 4G enabled services to large Telco organisations, managed Maritime data to any ship and even provide internet services to whole countries.

We also use existing established technologies to provide GEO services to parts of the world that are infrastructure deficient.

Our team have built and currently support a MEO dual 4.5 metre antenna system that provides 6Gb managed bandwidth, at fibre speed via MEO satellites, for a countrywide Telco allowing them to provide 4G/LTE services.

To facilitate this installation we provided:

  • The Initial Site Survey.
  • Locally sourced contractors for the civil works.
  • Supervision of the civil works to meet very tight tolerances.
  • Installation of the 2 x 4.5M MEO antennas.
  • The installation of a climate controlled and monitored container which houses the indoor equipment.
  • All the power, RF, earthing and communications cabling.
  • OSAT testing dictated by the manufacturer and the customer which surpassed the recommended specifications and we also carried out Photogrammetry try on this project.
  • Commissioning of the link and network equipment.
  • Onsite support during the APEC conference in November 2018 and ongoing support.

CASE STUDY

Alun Jones

Alun was contracted initially for O3b then SES since September 2015 as the Global Services Trainer. Due to the complexity of the multi-antenna ground satellite terminals; and in order to satisfy End-to-End service provision, there was an immediate necessity to train partner companies and internal employees to be able to carry out installation and maintenance of customer MEO systems worldwide. Due to the rapid expansion of the company and introduction of the latest technology, he has had to learn, design and deliver courses on most of their tier two systems, including:

  • General Dynamics 2.4m antenna systems.
  • AvL Flyaway Dual antenna system.
  • Orbit Maritime systems.
  • Viasat Tier II 2.4m antenna Systems.

Alun if not busy in his training role often gets tasked with travelling almost anywhere to produce complex site surveys or troubleshoot customer problems, these may be at fixed ground sites or travelling on the largest cruise liners to repair multi antenna MEO and GEO systems.

Technical assistance is often sought remotely for problems in the field, Alun is called upon to assist or lead efforts to restore services, often from thousands of miles away from his location.

Alun, has also been tasked with technical writing, producing procedures and manuals for field engineers to maintain SES Network systems.

The key qualities required to fulfil this role is the ability to learn, communicate and adapting to a very fast changing environment.
